Gemma Farrington QC was called to the bar in 1994, before taking silk in 2022. She specialises in complex care and private law proceedings.
Public Law
In respect of care proceedings, she is acknowledged as a specialist in complex cases such as Non-Accidental Injury, Sexual Abuse, Fabricated and Induced Illness and cases involving other serious allegations. She acts for parents, children, relatives, Special Guardians and adopters.
Private Law
In respect of private law work, she has been acknowledged as being skilled in cases involving complex fact-finding hearings or allegations of parental alienation. She acts for parents and is also regularly instructed by Guardians pursuant to rule 16.4 FPR 2010.
Court of Protection
Gemma has acted in Court of Protection cases and has a real interest in this area of law which she wishes to develop and expand in the future.

Gemma is building a practice in all areas relating to Animal Welfare Act 2006 and other key animal welfare legislation (including the recently enacted Animal Welfare (Sentence) Act 2022). Her considerable experience in Children cases means she is well equipped to accept instructions in this field.
Gemma is authorised to accept instructions direct from members of the public. She encourages clients who are considering this route to contact Chambers and discuss their problem.
In suitable cases, Gemma can provide client conferences, written advices and representation at court.
Gemma enjoys going to the theatre, listening to music, spending time with her family and pets and the occasional run.
