Andrew joined Chambers in 2020 from an in-house role with HMRC working in civil fraud and tax with particular expertise in insolvency and proceeds of crime litigation, including freezing injunctions and search orders. Andrew qualified in Australia in 2013 where he practiced largely in crime and child protection for Victoria Legal Aid.

Since joining Chambers, Andrew has acted across the range of Chambers work in family (public and private matters), employment, property and personal injury. Andrew has a particular interest in civil fraud and insolvency.

When time permits, he enjoys food and wine, playing golf and discovering new music and writers.


Andrew accepts instructions in all insolvency related disputes, including bankruptcy and winding-up petitions (including provisional liquidation), voluntary arrangements, and transactions at an undervalue or to defraud creditors. Andrew was the lead lawyer for HMRC in Re Total Site Projects Ltd [2019] EWHC 586 (Ch) (provisional liquidation arising from denial of input VAT for connection to fraud), Pearse v HMRC [2018] BTC 42 (application to set aside statutory demand). Andrew has advised on and acted in several applications for freezing injunctions whilst at HMRC involving allegations of fraudulent evasion of VAT, Company and Income Tax. Andrew also advises on actions based on the phoenixing provisions at section 216 and 217 of the Insolvency Act 1986.

Since joining chambers, Andrew has advised on the effect of insolvency of a Managing Agent and post-liquidation debts in possession proceedings, and prospect of recovery of outstanding rent under personal guarantee.


Andrew accepts instructions in all employment related matters. Recently, Andrew has been instructed in relation to redundancy, unfair dismissal for gross misconduct and unlawful deduction of wages claims. Andrew has also given advice in relation to breach of fiduciary duty by company directors in the context of unfair dismissal and unlawful discrimination.


Andrew accepts instructions in care and private law proceedings. Recently, he was instructed to act for the Local Authority at final hearing in applications for final care and adoption orders for serious neglect flowing from mental illness and substance abuse. Andrew has also been instructed to act in the final hearing of a Local Authority’s application for special guardianship orders and in a range of domestic violence trials.

In addition, Andrew accepts instructions in family property cases and has a particular interest in asset tracing and fraud related matters.

Business and Property

Andrew accepts instructions in relation to housing disrepair, occupiers’ liability and possession claims. Andrew also accepts instructions in all manner of contractual disputes, including domestic building disputes and consumer claims. Recently, he was instructed in relation to a claim for misrepresentation brought under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008.

Personal injury

Andrew accepts cases in personal injury claims arising from road traffic accidents, workplace injuries and occupiers’ liability. Andrew accepts cases on condition fee agreements. Andrew has also advised on quantum for children and appeared at approval hearings. Andrew has acted in cases involving allegations of fundamental dishonesty and fraudulent claims.
